The 'Cyprus Emergency'
Between 1955 and 1959, the EOKA group rebelled against British colonial rule in Cyprus, leading to the declaration of a state of emergency. Renos Lyssiotis, a Greek-Cypriot lawyer and EOKA member, was imprisoned by the British authorities during this period.
