Europe’s long drought of 2011
In 2011, a severe drought in central and eastern Europe led to record-low water levels in the Danube River, disrupting shipping and posing a threat to a nuclear power station. The drought also revealed sunken World War Two ships and unexploded bombs in Serbia.
