Living Free Under Authority | 1 Peter 2:13-17 | Pastor Andrew Coleman | 10/19/2025

In this passage, Peter calls believers to live holy lives, even under unjust authority. Submission is not weakness—it is strength rooted in trust that God rules over every human institution. We submit for the Lord’s sake, representing Him to a watching world. By doing good, we silence critics and reflect the goodness of Christ, and as those set free from sin, we use our freedom not for rebellion or selfishness, but to serve God and love others. Peter closes with four commands that shape every believer’s conduct: Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor. Even when authority is flawed—like Nero’s brutal rule—Christians reveal God’s sovereignty through humble obedience and steadfast faith. True freedom is living as servants of God who bring glory to Him in every sphere of life. ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_7c28f03426c74531bece0b429c5f1a39.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_5ac7f9bebd7a4b4c9c0e8e03a4023ea6.pdf ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/
