The elder tree has been revered for centuries for its healing properties and its association with the divine and in this episode, Ann explores both the many ways in which the elder tree can be used as a medicinal herb and its spiritual significance. If you have a common elder tree growing close by, it may be that you never need to go to the doctor again. Because medicinally, every part of the tree – actually it is considered to be a type of small bush – every part is used – berries, flowers, leaves, bark, pith and roots – to cure a variety of ailments such as epilepsy, asthma, inflammation of the eyes, fever, colds and flu, sore throats and bruises and as such, it is known as the Medicine Chest of the Country People.
