93. Rucking as a Workout (and our Summer Challenge Announcement)
Simply put, rucking is backpacking: carrying weight while walking. Humans aren't the fastest or strongest animals, but we have high levels of endurance and the ability to carry with our hands while walking. Rucking is a modern adaptation of this functional activity: carrying a load over time and distance using a backpack (or weight vest). What are the Benefits of Rucking? It's Fun!!! It's Great Exercise: Engages multiple muscle groups and burns more calories than walking. It's Adaptable: You can do it almost anywhere. No Complicated or Expensive Equipment Needed Improves Posture Better Than Walking: More core activation and muscle/bone stimulation. Better Than Running: Lower impact, making it more sustainable for longer distances. Why Are We Doing This Challenge? The purpose of this challenge is to give our CPM community a healthy focus and a push that works with a summer lifestyle versus against it. Walking (especially with weight) is the most underrated form of exercise that also perfectly complements our CPM workouts.
