Racially restrictive covenants are illegal, but remain in some property deeds
A project by UW-Milwaukee professors Derek Handley and Anne Bonds is mapping the historical presence and ongoing legacy of racially restrictive covenants in Milwaukee-area property deeds, which, despite being illegal since 1968, continue to impact segregation.
