As the Illuminated series draws to a close, Mike and Jon explore how the lens we see through shapes the way we love. It turns out the issue isn’t usually effort—it’s sight. When we love from our own strength, love easily becomes transactional, conditional, or self-protective. But when we receive God’s love first, it reshapes how we love others. Many of us carry hidden lenses: believing life with Jesus should be easy, that we must prove ourselves to be loved, or that God thinks exactly as we do. These distortions actually oppose our transformation. When we do the right things through the wrong lens, the result is less than God’s best. Walking in the light means allowing God to correct our vision so we can love from what we’ve truly received.
