"One Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church" and the Unity Jesus Desires

Ephesians 2:19-22; 4:4-6 - The Nicene Creed uses some of its valuable real estate to highlight the crucial importance of the church for the Christian faith. In our day of digital and personal substitutes, the Creed seeks to remind us that there is no such thing as a churchless Christianity. Jesus created the church to be His body, His bride, and an embassy of His kingdom. When we confess with the Creed that we believe "in one holy, catholic, and apostolic church," we are reminded to fight for the kind of unity and Christ-likeness that Jesus prayed for, even as we know we won't see it in full until He returns.
