4-12-26: The Visibility of Living Sacrifices

In Romans 12:9-21, we encounter a powerful challenge to our faith: if we claim to be living sacrifices for Christ, where is the evidence? This passage dismantles the notion that our faith can remain invisible or private. Just as Old Testament sacrifices were unmistakable—visible, audible, and tangible—our lives surrendered to God should be equally evident. We are called to live with open hearts that love authentically and consistently, not just those who benefit us but every image bearer of God. We are called to live with open hands that serve diligently, sharing our lives and resources without expecting anything in return. We are called to live with open eyes that see people as God sees them, rejoicing with those who rejoice and weeping with those who weep. And we are called to live with open arms that extend grace even to our enemies, conquering evil with good. This is not merely a list of moral behaviors to check off; it is the natural fruit of a heart transformed by the gospel. The question confronting us is simple yet profound: if Christianity were on trial, would there be enough evidence in our lives to convict us of being followers of Jesus? The call is not to try harder in our own strength, but to live out who we already are in Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.
